The Rostrum Appoints A New Consultant
The Rostrum are pleased to announce the appointment of a new consultant. Stephen Giles has been consulting for The Rostrum for a few months now and has now confirmed his commitment to The Rostrum.
Stephen has a wealth of experience having worked for a number of major auction houses. Stephen began his career as assistant to the crown jeweller, William Summers, in 1982 at Garrard and Co. At Garrard and Co. he handled some of the finest jewels in the world and in 1987 he was head hunted to become Director of Jewellery at Bonhams. Over the following 10 years he grew the department to an international level.
In 1997 Stephen wrote the Millers Jewellery checklist, which was one of the series’ best sellers.
He joined Phillips Auctioneers as International Director of Jewellery responsible for the auctions in London and Geneva. While at Phillips he was responsible for some very high profile sales including achieving the highest price in the late 1990’s for a vivid blue diamond selling at over $600,000 per carat.
After a succession of different owners Stephen left to become a freelance specialist.
And now Stephen is a Senior Consultant for The Rostrum and looks after our London clients that he has introduced to us.
